Associate Solicitor (4+ years PQE) Public Law & Human Rights department
We are looking for a dynamic solicitor with at least four years post-qualification to join our highly regarded Public Law & Human Rights department.
We hold legal aid contracts in public law, claims against public authorities and community care. Our core work includes judicial review challenges to immigration detention, asylum support decisions, age assessments and community care decisions; as well as civil actions for damages arising out of decisions and unlawful treatment in these contexts. We are ranked as a leading firm in the administrative & public law and civil liberties & human rights in both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500.
In recent years we have been involved in many high-profile legal challenges on behalf of people affected by government immigration policies, including the previous government’s policy of removing asylum seekers to Rwanda and accountability for inhuman and degrading treatment at the Manston detention facility. We have a developing practice in the area of business and human rights, and we’re keen to develop our inquest work.
The successful candidate will have a judicial review and claims against public authorities caseload in their current role, and qualify as a supervisor in the public law and claimants against public authorities categories according to Legal Aid Agency requirements. They will need to demonstrate the consistent ability to work to high standards whilst meeting billing targets and effectively supervising other fee earners.
We offer a competitive salary, 6 weeks holiday (in addition to public holidays), and flexible working arrangements. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, collaborative and supportive team.
