Baljit, Juanita, and Sarah represented the Wilsons family team at the Association of Lawyers for Children Conference in Manchester from 21st – 23rd November 2019.The conference was sold out and included a number of children panel solicitors from firms across England together with family law barristers and judges. The key note speech was delivered by Mrs Justice Theis. It considered parental responsibility and how the same is now defined in the 21st Century given changes to the law to involve IVF and surrogacy.Other interesting updates provided at the conference included intractable disputes between parents in contact cases; and domestic violence, including coercive control, delivered by an expert psychologist.Of the conference, Sarah states,

‘The ALC conference is always a useful event to attend for children panellists and child law practitioners. It provides a welcomed update on private and public law cases reported within the last year and provides points of view and insight from professionals that we wouldn’t necessarily normally be privileged to during the course of our working lives. It is extremely well organised and is a valuable resource as it allows us the opportunity to network with solicitors, barristers, and judges from across the country.’
