Wilson Solicitors’ Public Law & Human Rights team is acting for over 30 individuals in civil actions in arising out of their detention pending removal to Rwanda in 2022 and 2024, the policy of not admitting asylum claims for consideration in the UK, and the unpublished policy to pause consideration of trafficking claims for this cohort that was in place from March 2023 to April 2024.

The law says that civil actions must be started at court within certain time periods from the incidents giving rise to claims. The main deadlines to be aware of are 1 year (Human Rights Act), 3 years (personal injury) and 6 years (other intentional torts such as false imprisonment). The law allows the courts to extend some of these deadlines in some circumstances.
