Osime Brown campaign success – decision to deport Osime is withdrawn

Following a long campaign and legal proceedings there was some good news yesterday for Osime Brown and his supporters. Our Andrew Jones, the solicitor who represented Osime in his immigration case, writes;

We’re delighted that the Home Office has withdrawn its decision to deport Osime Brown to Jamaica.

Osime, who has Autistic Spectrum Disorder, has lived in the UK since the age of 4 and has no family in Jamaica.

Osime’s appeal against deportation was originally dismissed by the immigration tribunal in 2019. That decision was later overturned and the case was sent back to the tribunal to be re-heard.

Wilsons were instructed during the course of the second appeal. Working closely with Clare Hayes and Sarah Ricca at Deighton Pierce Glynn solicitors (who represent Osime in other matters) and counsel Nick Armstrong at Matrix Chambers we gathered significant new evidence regarding Osime’s condition, his family life in the UK, and the conditions he would face in Jamaica.

The Home Office agreed to reconsider its decision in light of the new evidence, and confirmed yesterday that Osime will not be deported.

We’re thrilled for Osime and his family, whose brilliant campaign and those that supported it, also made a huge difference.
